The Snuggie!

A blanket with sleeves!? My life has changed forever...

Drew has had a a love affair with the Snuggie since the first time he saw it on TV. Certainly, four year olds make the best audiences, because he can cite all the benefits a Snuggie has to offer. He is excited to 'wear' his Snuggie to the Super Bowl this Sunday. Actually, the Snuggie is now a pop phenomenon. All the kids are doing it!!

The Dragons

I helped to take pictures of Kennedy's volleyball team, the Dragons, this season. Mindy Parker is our coach, and I help her as an assistant coach. I told her "you are Batman, and I will be your Robin". She is awesome and I really appreciate her helping Kennedy with serving, as Kennedy is pretty good. I have fun being around the girls, maybe sometime I will actually get to volleyball one Wednesday...

And here is what makes Shayne feel secure...

(i am totally rocking in the food storage dept., don't ya think?)

...snacks. well, to be more precise, crackers and coke. the secret's out folks, he lost 170lbs eating wheat thins and diet coke/diet pepsi. that's actually only partially true. he would take a wheat thin over a chocolate chip cookie anyday. i know, crazy.

Peace from a pack of toilet paper...

I have often thought what brings me peace and security in my life, in terms of the physical things. I have narrowed it down to a big supply of toilet paper. Well, basically the bulk items that you see at Costco. My giant detergent, big pack of Dove bar soap, large shampoo and conditioner (those are killer if dropped on feet though), and don't forget, my supply of diet coke.
I just like seeing them in the cupboard. It makes me happy, and also, prepared. I have often said that if I just had limitless amounts of money, shopping at Costco with no regard to the total would be the ultimate. Imagine me skipping down those concrete isles, THAT HAPPY! I am a simpleton, I know. But my supply of paper towels brings my a joy that just can't be duplicated!

Basking in the Glow-Bama

Yesterday was the inaguration of our 44th President, Barrack H. Obama. Now, I am a republican so obviously I didn't vote for him. However, seeing the deomocratic process of voting for a president makes me feel very blessed. He may not have been my choice for president, but I am not going to be sour grapes, just hopeful.
The highlight for me yesterday, was the musical number with Yo Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. It was so beautiful. Music touches my heart in a way that nothing else can. You could tell just how much the four musicians were enjoying themselves. I can't imagine being on top of the U. S. Capital and overlooking thousands of people, marking history. Amazing.

What the heck is a Sea Kitten?

"A lot of people don't realize that fish are capable of feeling fear and pain, that they develop relationships with each other, and even show affection by gently rubbing against one another," says Ashley Byrne, PETA's sea kitten campaign co-ordinator. "Knowing that the fish sticks in the school cafeteria are really made out of tortured sea kittens makes most kids want to lose their lunch."
Kids throwing up in the cafeteria due to extreme guilt, rriiiggghhht......
If I encounter a fish with a collar and a cute metal tag that says
Bubbles
555-5555

I'll let him go.

Funny, Funny Skit

Id you like Rainn Wilson you will enjoy this, my favorite is the gigantic turkey sub...(you need to mute the music at bottom to hear skit)

Drew Bearski-Bear

Mr. Magoogee-Bear, Drew-bee, Sugar, Precious to me, Palsie-Walsie, and just plain old Drew-Bear.
I want to squeeze his little buns, and wrap him up tight and put him in my pocket forever! I still love when he gets up in the morning, and snuggles with me for a few minutes, will that be weird when he's 12?????
Anyway, heard in the car today...
D-"Mom, I want you to hear my thinking"
K-"you mean, you want to tell me what you are thinking?"

He is obsessed with hobos-where they live, what they eat, and what they do...
Also, because I always have the radio on in the car, he has picked up a new favorite song that he just loves to sing....
Womanizer by Britney Spears
Womanizer
Woman-Womanizer
You're a womanizer
Oh Womanizer
Oh You're a Womanizer Baby
You, You You Are
You, You You Are
Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer

Now, I generally listen to alternative, but when there are commericals, you gotta fill in the gaps, right???

What Not To Wear

So, last night was the Golden GLobe Awards, and yeah, I watched 'em. I have a vested interest in that a few of my favorite shows were nominated for various awards.
-Mad Men(I am a latecomer to this show, but it is pretty darn good)
-30 Rock
-The Office
Personally, I think all the women and men look beautiful, so I am always amazed at the aftershow chatter on who looked tacky, horrible, blah, blah, blah.

"Marisa Tomei should have walked the plank for sporting this swashbuckler-inspired ensemble." huh?
What the heck? I think she looks good, at least it is an original style.
Who am I to judge? I am wearing two different socks because I need to do laundry, and am still sporting Saturday's hair-do? Not to mention, I still haven't plucked that hair I saw the other day on my chin...
I convince myself that people I know have seen me look good atleast one time or another, so they know that there CAN be improvement.
Hey, Marisa, it worked for Johnny Depp, you work it!

Domestic Bliss

I am currently covered in flour, and chicken broth because I spent the day making giantic batches of soup. You see, I had heard urban legends of women who spend an afternoon making and freezing meals. Not to mention, the woman who makes her own noodles! Can you imagine?
So, I check out Allrecipes.com and found this recipe for soup, and the result is pretty yummy I must say...

I would consider myself a foodie and that explains why I really love food, and pictures OF food.

A new year begins...

I am afraid to list any resolutions or goals, for fear that I won't achieve any. But, I amy going to try to make little do-able changes, like...
-tell my kids how awesome they are and how much I love them, more
-have faith in myself that I am capable of learning new things
-be a better listener
-stop saying the word 'crap' . I know its ugly, and I use it as a noun and an adjective so this may prove harder than the others!
