"Grand" Canyon trip

So, last Thursday Jordan and I embarked on a whirwind 24 hour trip to the Grand Canyon, the greatest hole in the ground on earth. That meant, meeting at the school to leave at 10 pm, and returnt the following day at 10pm. Let me just say that two hours into the bus ride I was calculating how much a plane ticket would cost from Flagstaff to home. We were on coach busses, oh the luxury of reclining at a 95 degree angle, the smell of beef jerkey and flamin hot cheetos, the sounds of Alvin and the Chipmonks blasting at a decibel loud enough to make my ear-hairs vibrate.

The big hole WAS lovely at sunrise, I was just glad to get off the bus. I love trips for souvineers where you can buy dried out fudge and your name on any kind of keychain imagineable. The horror to me was that I forgot my camera, yeah, the aspiring photographer forgot her camera on her FIRST EVER visit to the grand canyon. Of course everything but with me, tylenol, thermometer, chapstick, you get it.
The highlight was Jordan having a terrible night terror in the last 10 minutes of our drive home. I literally had the death grip on my poor, overtired, son and he tried to bolt out of his seat.
Seriously, the highlight WAS Jordan for me. He is very sweet, always up for a good laugh, but not the class clown. It was good for just us to be together, mom and son-beef jerky smells and all.

Sounds like you need to go back... on your own terms. Just thinking about beef jerky makes me a little bit nauseated!

Jordan is such a great kid!

I have to second that one....Jordan really is an awesome kid!!!

As far as the "HOLE", you need to go back on at least a full 1/2 nights sleep to really appreciate it. (You know, not quite coherent, but just enough to NOT try to jump in...) Sorry you forgot your camera. That's frustrating.
