Defeated

Has it been enough time since my last whiney blog post to post a whiney blog post???
Aren't there days where you just feel defeated? That is totally where I am right now. Every day I make goals, and by the end of the day, I am just glad to have survived!
There were years where I painted, sewed and crafted pretty regularly. And that was when my babies were little. I currently have two bolts of fabric slated to become curtains....someday. But its one of those things, the walls need to be painted first, and before that, the plaster needs to be fixed, and by the way, the grout in the kitchen floor looks horrendous....hope I still like the fabric in 10 or so years.
And then there is the backyard. I worked my hiney off ripping trees and bushes out. Felt like a mighty, mighty warrior. Okay, now what? I need to haul off tons of rocks, to regrade the ground, dig trenches for sprinklers, put in extra valves....maybe when Shayne is retired.
The kids need to be fed everyday, the nerve! What's that, AND you want clean clothes???And, I have learned the hard way that I must do homework every day to hopefully get 'B's in my classes. Its the little league, volunteering at school, driving "into town". library runs, that keep us all pretty dang busy.
I have these weeks where I just feel beat down, and then, next week I could be super-obnoxiously positive about life. Now, where's my Ritalin, mommy needs her uppers...

You can whine whenever you feel like it Kellie!! You have earned that right! Of course, today is the day that I ask you to add one more thing to you calender. Sorry!! Just remember, you are awesome and you are a wonderful mother who cares enough to feed and put your kids in clean clothes;) Let me know when you get ready to move the rock. I can come and help you. I would be of no use helping you sew or do any kind of craft, but I do know how do manual labor!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having a day (life) like this! I BARELY managed to trudge through my day, and felt totally justified in treating myself to Baskin-Robbins at 9:30 tonight. And that was after cake at Enrichment, or whatever it's called now. Sometimes it's a good ice cream & cake kind of day, and sometimes it's a BAAAD ice cream & cake kind of day! Hmmm, is it any wonder I look like I do?

Yes, whine! We all need a day to just whine and complain a little because there is so much to do and some days so little time to do it in. Jackson made me laugh today when he said he was going to go with me because driving from home to gymnastics then to scouts and back to gymnastics...and back to scouts and then home again sounded fun. Really, fun? Guess it's all in perspective right?

You can do it though - because you are MOM and mom's are awesome!

Kellie, You took the words right out of my mouth. I always feel this way right around midterms. I just have to remind myself that sometimes treading water is enough. If I just keep my head above the water, I'll survive. Sure, I can remember the times when I've been able to swim effortlessly. But for now, treading water is good enough.

You can do it.

Whine away! Isn't that what the blog is for? We, as mothers, have a divine right to whine and cry whenever we so desire. We all do so much for our families and do it while we are trying not to lose ourselves as well. Kellie, are an awesome mother with great kids. You take on ALL of the household responsibilities and still have time to serve other people outside of your family. You are a great example to me of how a friend and neighbor should be.
I have had to trim down many of my children's extracurricular activities and I have to say, it has been a blessing for me. This does not work for everyone, but I am happier this way. It also reminds me of the talk given by Elder Oakes (I think) to try to choose the better part. We need to decide what is the better part for each of our own families. What works for one does not always work for another. Lots of trial and error at our house!
Whine away and I will be the one next to you whining louder! Remeber that you are the MOM and have the support of all of us moms out here. You can do it!

I'll agree with everyone else when I say whine away! You'll make it through this. I've been there too. Norm can attest to the fact that every now and then I tell him that I'm ready to quit. He's not very happy about it when I say it, but sometimes just being mom again is pretty tempting. His pep talks always help and remembering that I could someday be in my mom's position and may have to support my family. If that was to happen (I've already told Norm that he's not allowed to die young)I'll be glad that I spent the time I did on school to be prepared.

My kids extracurricular activities have been very limited since I went back to school. I do feel guilty about it, but I can only do so much. I just recently added piano for Rachel and Andrew's going to do flag football, but even there Mindi is going to be helping us get him to his practice. You have to decide what is right for you and your family.

We'll have to plan some sort of end of the semester girls night out to celebrate our "freedom". Maybe you can take me shopping and I'll try not to complain when I get bored ;)

Oh Kellie...it's okay to feel as you do. You are doing a super-good job at everything you attempt, you just can't do everything! You sound like a "project" girl who likes to check it off by the end of the week...I was once that girl, but I gave up to keep my sanity. I give you applause because you accomplish what is most important at the end of the day...being a great, loving mommy. Your kids and husband are sooo lucky, as well as your friends, for having your influence.
